Disney Book Tag!

Hello, my lovely little followers and what I hope to be my soon-to-be-lovely-little-followers!

So, the awesome Silanur from AloofBooks tagged me in this swankified tag, and because of my intense, undying, and quite possibly creepy love for both Disney and books, I decided to do this tag right away!

1. The Little Mermaid – a character who is out of their element, a “fish out of water”

For this, I must choose Cather Avery of Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. Being quite the socially challenged introvert, she definitely struggles in college.

2. Cinderella – a character who goes through a major transformation

Of course, I have to choose the ultimate transformation, Juliette from the Shatter Me series by Tahereh Mafi. Juliette starts out as this annoying, whiny brat, and transforms into—well, you’ll just have to read and see!

3. Snow White – a book with an eclectic cast of characters

I gotta say Cress, the latest book in The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer. From Cinder to Wolf to Throne, it’s a pretty diverse cast of unique characters.

4. Sleeping Beauty – a book that put you to sleep

So, Silanur (the blogger who tagged me, in case you have short term memory loss like a certain Disney sidekick fish) will hate me for this, but I will have to say The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater. Though I loved the writing style, I barely made it through the first book, and couldn’t even finish the second.

5. The Lion King – a character who had something traumatic happen to them in childhood

So, we’re going to go with Kahlid from The Wrath and The Dawn by Renée Ahdieh, which I happen to currently be reading. It’s tragic, it’s traumatic, and you’ll have to read the book to find out what happened.

6. Beauty and the Beast – A beast of a book (a big book) that you were intimidated by, but found the story to be beautiful

I think I was in 4th grade when I picked up a very sizable book by the name of Little Women. Though scary, I began reading anyway and it didn’t take very long to fall in love with the story and characters.

7. Aladdin – a character who gets their wish granted, for better or worse

I’m going to go with Feyre from A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas. *MINOR SPOILER* All Feyre wants in the beginning of the story is to go home, and, well, she gets her wish.

8. Mulan – a character who pretends to be someone or something they are not

I’m going to choose Mare Barrow from Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard. The entire plot relies on her pretending to be one of another blood.

9. Toy Story – a book with characters you wish would come to life

PERCY JACKSON FOREVER AND ALWAYS.

10. Disney Descendants – your favorite villain or morally ambiguous character

*SPOILER FOR SHADOW AND BONE* The Darkling from the Grisha trilogy by Leigh Bardugo. I mean, come on. Who else could I choose? I’m still convinced he’s really a good character and it’s all an illusion

Well, that’s it! I hope you enjoyed that lovely little tag!

I officially tag any blogger with the word “book” in their blog title. And even if you don’t, go ahead and give this tag a try!

Have you read any of these books? What’s your favorite Disney movie? Comment below!

Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award!

Thank you, thank you, thank you to Away in Neverland for the nomination! Her blog is absolutely fabulous, so make sure you check it out!

The lovely little rules:

  1. Thank the blogger who nominated you and link back to their sight
  2. Put the award logo on your blog
  3. Answer the 10 questions sent to you
  4. Make up 10 new questions for your nominees to answer
  5. Nominate 10 blogs

1. Did you have a book that meant a lot to you as a child?
Erm, obviously the Percy Jackson books. They are my babies and I love them.

2. Is there any author of book that you collect and will always welcome multiple editions of the same title?

Rick Riordan. Do you see a theme here?

3. Say that you find yourself judging a book by its cover (not that we ever do that!); what sort of covers do you go for? Are there any that are an absolute turn off?

Ooooo! Any covers with gorgeous dresses! Also covers with bright colors and tumblr-y illustrations.

4. If you could pick any imaginary animal to bring home to mom with an earnest, “Can we keep him??”, what animal would it be?

A unicorn. Not that they’re imaginary, of course.

5. Is there any book to movie adaptation that you simply refuse to watch? No way, no how, you’re not even giving them the opportunity to mess it up?

City of Bones, thank you very much.

6. What is the most unusual book you’ve ever read? (Plot, writing style, chapter layout, etc?)

The Sound and the Fury by William Faulkner. And not unusual in a good way. It’s actually the worst book I’ve every read. It might just be me, but I enjoy having sentences and paragraphs and periods.

7. Is there any book or series that you’ve read that is so totally outside of your normal genre, but you loved it and would recommend it to others as a “take a risk!” type of book?

Angelfall by Susan Ee! I’m SO not a paranormal fan, but THIS SERIES IS SO GOOD I JUST CAN NOT ASDFGHJKLOQKAJSMDNCHDJ .

8. Do you have any bookish collections, or anything you covet and hope to someday collect? Candles, artwork, bookcases?

Um. not really.

9. What book has been on your TBR pile the longest, but you just can’t convince yourself to pick it up?
The Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula LeGuin. Just..too lazy.

10. You get a $500 gift card for all things bookish-do you run to your nearest bookstore and spend like a fiend? Or do you create pro/con lists (a la Rory Gilmore) to make sure you get just the right and perfect and wonderful bookish things? Or are you eyeing a particularly expensive bookcase somewhere?

As much as I aspire to be like Rory Gilmore, let’s be real here. I’m about to buy a whole ton of impulse buy books.

Reader’s Problem Book Tag!

I was tagged by the bodacious blog A Bookworm’s Perfect Apple! Go check out their blog, it’s epic!

1. You have 20,000 books on your TBR. How in the world do you decide what to read next?

20,000 books ain’t got nothing on my TBR!

I am a full-on mood reader, so if I’m feeling like reading a light-hearted contemporary, I’ll read that. if I’m in the mood for high fantasy, then I’ll read that.

2. You’re halfway through a book and you’re just not loving it. Do you quit or are you committed?

Absolutely not. I read for fun, so if I’m not enjoying myself, it’s not worth it.

3. The end of the year is coming and you’re so close, but so far away on your Goodreads reading challenge. Do you try to catch up and how?

First off, I never have this problem. I mean, my challenge is set for 105 books, and I’ve already read 55! But if for some reason I fell drastically behind, then I will read every tiny little picture book I can find and complete that challenge.

4. The covers of a series you love do. not. match. How do you cope?

Erm. I don’t.

5. Everyone and their mother loves a book you really don’t like. Who do you bond with over shared feelings?

Internet! I find someone in the blogosphere or on Goodreads who shares my feelings and rant with them.

6. You’re reading a book and you are about to start crying in public. How do you deal?

I’m really not much of a book crier. I know, I’m heartless. But if a book really REALLY hits me hard, I might cry. And if it’s in public, I just ignore the creeped out looks.

7. A sequel of a book you loved just came out, but you’ve forgotten a lot from the prior novel. Will you re-read the book?

Eh. I’m too lazy. I will read an overview/discussion of the book instead.

8. You do not want anyone. ANYONE. borrowing your books. How do you politely tell people nope when they ask?

Oh, I SO disagree. Believe me, I want my books to remain perfect. But books are meant to be shared and spread and loved. So if someone wants to borrow one of my books, I will gladly lend it to them.

9. Reading ADD. You’ve picked up and put down 5 books in the last month. How do you get over your reading slump?

Netflix.

‘Nuff said.

10. There are so many new books coming out that you’re dying to read! How many do you actually buy?

All of the books.

And when I run out of money, I cry.

This is how I deal with my problems😂😂

11. After you’ve bought the new books you can’t wait to get to, how long do they sit on your shelf before you get to them?

Right away! If I’ve gotten ARCs, I’ll read those first, then I’ll read all the books in order I got them, or whatever mood I’m in!

TAGGING TIME!

I tag:

Drizzle and Hurricane Books

Infinite Booooks

Josie the Bookworm

And you!

Have fun!

The Ultimate Book Tag!

A big thank you to Shannon and Briana for tagging me!

1. Do you get sick while reading in the car?

Yes…

*sigh*

If I could read in the car I would finish books much, much faster.

2. Which author’s writing style is completely unique to you and why?

Tahereh Mafi’s writing style is, to me, so unique and poetic and absolutely addicting.

3. Harry Potter Series or the Twilight Saga? Give 3 points to defend your answer.

I haven’t read Twilight so…
But even then, Harry Potter because:

  1. Hagrid
  2. The Weasley Twins
  3. Magic

4. Do you carry a book bag? If so, what is in it (besides books)?

Yep! Basically homework, pencils, ballet shoes, notebooks, etc.

5. Do you smell your books?

What, why would you think that?
*sniffs book*

6. Books with or without little illustrations.

I can appreciate some illustration, but I prefer to use my own imagination.

7. What book did you love while reading but discovered later it wasn’t quality writing?

To be honest, I’ve never really experienced this.

8. Do you have any funny stories involving books from your childhood? Please share!

Actually, yes! When I was little (5 or 6), me and my family would always go to the Politics and Prose bookstore, and there was this one picture book, Eat Your Peas, that I wanted so desperately. Every time we went there, my mom said she would get it for me the next time. Then, one day we just didn’t go there again. I still don’t have that book.
Okay, that sounded funnier in my head

9. What is the tinniest book on your shelf?

I have a lot of Indian comic books that are really thin.

10. What is the thickest book on your shelf?

The Bible.☺️

11. Do you write as well as read? Do you see yourself in the future as being an author?
Yes, I LOVE writing. I can see myself as an author, but I think I would work in publishing while writing.

12. When did you get into reading?

As soon as I learned to read!

13. What is your favourite classic book?

Pride and Prejudice or Little Women.❤️

14. In school what was your best subject? Language Arts/English?
I think my best subject is English. Or Literature. Basically just writing essays.

15. If you were given a book as a present that you had read before and hated, what would you do?

I would graciously accept, but mention I’d read the book before. People will usually offer a gift receipt and tell me to buy one I’d never read before. If they don’t, I’ll just remark on how I thought the book was unique or interesting and keep it.

16. What is a bad habit you always do (besides rambling) while blogging?
When I get busy, I just don’t have time to blog, which isn’t necessarily a bad habit, but it does happen.

17. What is your favorite word?
Flapdoodle. It makes me so insanely happy that that is a word. Also dashing, especially when British people say it.

18. Are you a nerd, dork, or dweeb? Or all of the above?
A nerd. A full on nerd.

19. Vampires or Fairies? Why?
Okay, I absolutely despise vampires, but even then, totally fairies. If I could be a faerie or a human, I’d probably pick faerie.

20. Shapeshifters or Angels? Why?

Angels because Angelfall. Susan Ee. DUH.

21. Spirits or Werewolves? Why?
Werewolves, spirits scare me. Then again, half men half wolf people scare me too.

22. Zombies or Vampires? Why?
Vampires, because zombies give me nightmares.

23. Love Triangle or Forbidden Love?
Forbidden love because I find it much more heart wrenching and much less overused than love triangles.

24. And finally: Full on romance books or action-packed with a few love scenes mixed in?

Well, I enjoy both. It really depends on the mood I’m in, but usually I’m more for those action-packed scenes with a few love scenes mixed in.

Okay! I tag:

ALL OF YOU!

Mwah!😘

Coffee Book Tag!

1. Black: Name a series that’s tough to get into but has hardcore fans.

I stumbled through this book because of all the fans, but just like black coffee, I really never got into.

2. Peppermint mocha: Name a book that gets more popular during the winter or a festive time of year.

I’m choosing the popular choice for this one. For some reason, the Harry Potter books have a very festive feel.

3. Hot chocolate: What is your favourite children’s book?

This has been one of my favorites for so long! So sad, yet so good!

4. Double shot of espresso: Name a book that kept you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.

This trilogy is full of so much action, and I love that so much! The dual POV always ends in cliffhangers, making you want to read each chapter! Plus Day and June…❤️

5. Starbucks: Name a book you see everywhere.

Oh, Starbucks, how I love thee. ❤️

Red Queen has been receiving a bunch of hype right now, and personally, I think this book deserves it.

6. That hipster coffee shop: Give a book by an indie author a shoutout

😊👌 Great book. Set in India. You should read it!

7. Oops! I accidentally got decaf: Name a book you were expecting more from.

*ducks rocks thrown at me*

Sorry, sorry, sorry! I loved The Fault in Our Stars, but Paper Towns didn’t do much for me. 😪

8. The perfect blend: Name a book or series that was both bitter and sweet but ultimately satisfying.

I don’t know how satisfying this was, but it was definetly bittersweet.

OH THE FEELS.

I tag anyone who wants to do this tag!

Frozen Book Tag!

Thank you so much Jet Weasley for tagging me!

Frozen Heart

Beautiful! Powerful! Dangerous! Cold! What character do you think of when you hear this description?

Those adjectives definitely make me think of Queen Levana from the Lunar Chronicles. She’s really quite the beautiful villain!

Do You Want To Build a Snowman?

A character you want to build a snowman with.

I think Leo Valdez from the Heroes of Olympus series would have some pretty epic snowman building/investing skills.

For the First Time in Forever

You haven’t been able to read anything in a long time and your TBR pile has been growing larger and larger. What book (of your TBR pile, so no rereads) would you pick?

Definetly Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins. Though I don’t actually own it yet, I’ve been very much in the mood for a cutesy romance lately.

Love Is an Open Door

With what book or which character (or both!) would love be an open door with it? Or for what book/which character would you close the door to?

Character: UGH it’s so hard. It’s going to either be Will Herondale, Percy Jackson, or Captain Thorne from the Lunar Chronicles.

Book: All of the books by Rick Riordan. I LOVE THEM!!!!!

I would close the door on…

Character: Mal from the Grisha trilogy. He’s just so insanely annying.

Book: The Raven Boys…Sorry…

Let it Go

A book or book series you used to love but you let it go.

I loved Matched by Ally Condie, but the trilogy just went downhill after that.

Reindeers Books Are Better Than People

Books are better than people. We all know that.

Let’s say you’re tired of people today. What book would you rather spend the day with?

Every book. Ever.

In Summer

A book perfect for summer!

Definitely Since You’ve Been Gone by Morgan Matson. The ultimate summer read!

Fixer Upper

A book that’s a bit of a fixer-upper and should be fixed with a little bit of love ?

As much as I love John Green, Paper Towns was not my favorite.

I tag anyone reading this!

The Taylor Swift Book Tag

Was I tagged? Nope. Do I care? Not even a little. Honestly, I should probably be sleeping, but I’m all excited

right now. Not entirely sure why.

Anyway, here’s the Taylor Swift Book Tag!

1) We are never getting back together: a book or series you were pretty sure you were in love with but then wanted to break up with

9780142421710_p0_v2_s260x420

Ugh. I loved the first book, Matched, so incredibly much, but after about 30 pages, this book made me fall asleep. Literally.

2) Red: pick a book with a red cover

scorpio-races

This book transported me to a terrible place with one amazing girl. It was beautifully written and I loved every page. Oh, and the cover’s red.

3) The best day: pick a book that makes you feel nostalgic

619RpdGjmwL

This book reminds me of simple happiness.

4) Love Story: pick a book with a forbidden love

Unknown-1

*cue creepy caffeinated giggle*

5) Innocent: Pick A Bad Character You Couldn’t Help But Love

Severus-snape1

I still have no idea whether or not Snape is good or bad.

6) Innocent: pick a book that someone ruined the ending of

The_Fault_in_Our_Stars

*sigh*

Thanks Paige…

7) Everything has changed: pick a book that has a character who goes through extensive character development

Unknown-2

When you have a society that makes you choose one character trait and go through a training to enforce it, it’s pretty hard not to go through an extensive character development.

8) Forever and always: pick your favorite book couple

Like I could choose just one! Okay, fine Percabeth. Wait, no. Wessa. Oh, no, Clace. Honestly, I could go on all night.

9) You belong with me: most anticipated book release

11265077

I’m so ready you have no idea.

10) Come back, be here: pick a book you wouldn’t lend out to anyone for fear of missing it too much

IMG_5689

They are my babies and I love them.

11) Tear drops on my guitar: a book that made you cry a lot

17984141

I’m not sure why, but this book made me so sad. I cried. Multiple times.

12) Shake it off: a book that you love so much you just shake off the haters

Throne_of_Glass_UK

If you don’t care if you think I’m insane. I just love this book so, so, so, so, much. I might be a little obsessed.

There ya go! I tag anyone who reads this!
