Read-O-Rama Readathon TBR

Read-O-Rama is a Readathon created by a few booktubers. I thought it looked swankified (Wicked reference in case you musical newbies didn’t know) and fun, so I decided I would join in!

It takes place from midnight, March 8 to 11:59, March 15. Ergo, it starts tomorrow!

There are 7 challenges that you try to complete, and the goal is to read 7 books. I’m not sure if it’ll happen, since I do have school, buuut I’ll do my best!

Read a book from your TBR Jar, or a book someone else picked out for you.

Since I don’t have a TBR jar, I asked my sister to pick out a book for me. I have no idea what The Alchemist is about, but I know it’ll be a quick read, since it’s less than 200 pages.

Read a book with green on the cover

Okay, there are greenish lights reflecting off the water. It counts. Right?

Read a book with the letters RAMA in the title/author name

As you can see, there are 2 As, 1 R, and 1 M. So excited to read this! I’ve been in a real fantasy kick lately.

Read a diverse book

I don’t have one picked out yet, I think I’ll go to the library and pick one out. After all, it’s free!

Read a book with flowers on it

Well, there’s one flower. It counts. I think.

Read a Contemporary

Both We Were Liars and All The Bright Places are contemporaries, so I think I’ve got this challenge covered.

Finish a series

I’m so excited to read this! The Grisha Trilogy is so GOOOOOD!

I’m also going to try to get to another book so that I’ll have read 7 books, though I’m not sure what I’m going to get yet. I’m also not sure if I’ll read all these books, I might read other books to complete the challenges instead of the books I have listed here. We’ll find out in a week!

Comment below if you’re going to take part of this Readathon, I’d love to know if other bloggers are going to take part!

Happy Reading!❤️

Manga Classics: Les Miserables – Book Review

Title: Manga Classics: Les Miserables

Author: SunNeko Lee (Art)Crystal Silvermoon (Adaptation), Victor Hugo (Original Story)

Genre: Romance, Historical Drama

Rating: 5/5 stars

Synopsis:

Adapted for stage and screen, loved by millions, Victor Hugo’s classic novel of love and tragedy set in 19th century France is reborn in this fantastic new manga edition!

Gorgeous and expressive art brigns to life the unforgettable stories of Jean Valjean, Inspector Javert, and the tragic Fantine in this epic adaptation of Les Misérables!

My Thoughts:

I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Les Miserables is a timeless tale, though the original novel can be pretty tough to get through for the average, modern day person.

But this manga edition is easy to read, with all the beauty of the original novel.

The artwork is flawless, and I found it really interesting seeing all the characters in manga form.

If you’re looking for a heart wrenching, breathtaking and beautiful book, this is it!

8 YA Books That Should Be More Popular

A lot of books deserve the hype, some don’t. All I know for sure is that these 8 books definitely deserve to be a whole lot more popular.

Gretchen has grown up around a close family friend – Adolf Hitler. But then she starts to fall for a Jewish reporter. Oh, and they’re investigating a murder mystery together.
This is one of my all time favorite historical fiction novels, and that’s saying a lot. I won’t be satisfied until every person on the world has read this book!

IMG_5759

This story tells what happens after Romeo and Juliet’s death, mainly revolving around Rosaline.
The novel is amazing! I’m not really a big Shakespeare reader, but I loved this book so much! I think historical fiction lovers will really appreciate his book!

IMG_5762

Yes, another Shakespeare retelling. This book has a very contemporary feel, but there is some magic involved when two actors are transported into the Romeo and Juliet world!

IMG_5763

I read this book quite a while ago, but I still remember how fantastic it was! It’s a contemporary that’s really quirky and fun, revolving around a girl’s first year of high school in Kentucky.

IMG_5784

Penryn teams up with a fallen angel to save her sister after an angel apocalypse.
This book is the very opposite of quirky and light. It’s a very dark, action-packed and intense read. But full of witty banter to keep things fun! I will never be able to recommend this book enough!

IMG_5810

If you like Indian myths and folk tales, you’ll love this book!

IMG_5679

I actually did a review on this one! To see that, click here.

IMG_5811

If you love classics like Little Women and Anne of Green Gables, you will love this book! It’s written in the form of letters from a grateful orphan getting a free college education from and anonymous donor to that anonymous donor. It’s full of fun and romance, and set in the early 1900s.

Happy Reading!

The Taylor Swift Book Tag

Was I tagged? Nope. Do I care? Not even a little. Honestly, I should probably be sleeping, but I’m all excited

right now. Not entirely sure why.

Anyway, here’s the Taylor Swift Book Tag!

1) We are never getting back together: a book or series you were pretty sure you were in love with but then wanted to break up with

9780142421710_p0_v2_s260x420

Ugh. I loved the first book, Matched, so incredibly much, but after about 30 pages, this book made me fall asleep. Literally.

2) Red: pick a book with a red cover

scorpio-races

This book transported me to a terrible place with one amazing girl. It was beautifully written and I loved every page. Oh, and the cover’s red.

3) The best day: pick a book that makes you feel nostalgic

619RpdGjmwL

This book reminds me of simple happiness.

4) Love Story: pick a book with a forbidden love

Unknown-1

*cue creepy caffeinated giggle*

5) Innocent: Pick A Bad Character You Couldn’t Help But Love

Severus-snape1

I still have no idea whether or not Snape is good or bad.

6) Innocent: pick a book that someone ruined the ending of

The_Fault_in_Our_Stars

*sigh*

Thanks Paige…

7) Everything has changed: pick a book that has a character who goes through extensive character development

Unknown-2

When you have a society that makes you choose one character trait and go through a training to enforce it, it’s pretty hard not to go through an extensive character development.

8) Forever and always: pick your favorite book couple

Like I could choose just one! Okay, fine Percabeth. Wait, no. Wessa. Oh, no, Clace. Honestly, I could go on all night.

9) You belong with me: most anticipated book release

11265077

I’m so ready you have no idea.

10) Come back, be here: pick a book you wouldn’t lend out to anyone for fear of missing it too much

IMG_5689

They are my babies and I love them.

11) Tear drops on my guitar: a book that made you cry a lot

17984141

I’m not sure why, but this book made me so sad. I cried. Multiple times.

12) Shake it off: a book that you love so much you just shake off the haters

Throne_of_Glass_UK

If you don’t care if you think I’m insane. I just love this book so, so, so, so, much. I might be a little obsessed.

There ya go! I tag anyone who reads this!

4 of The Worst Movies Based on Books

There have been beautiful stories that have wrapped us up in delightful excitement. Then, of course, there are the movies that ruined them forever.

image

Points for trying Disney, but no. Just no.

image

This was one of my favorite stories as a child, and as much as I love Jack Black, nothing was right in this movie.

image

I haven’t even bothered to watch this movie. Why? Because my friend, who is just as obsessed with the series as I am, told me not to bother unless I wanted the books to be disgraced and ruined in my my mind forever. So yeah, I didn’t watch it.

image

I have been so attached to this series for forever, and the movie just made me so sad. I really don’t know anyone who liked this movie. At all. They changed the appreances and races of so many characters, and they LITTERALLY completely changed the plot. Why? WHY?

Top Five Fictional Sidekicks

DR-WATSON-dr-john-h-watson-11360526-1920-1080

5. Dr. Watson. Now here’s sidekick material. Watson adds just the right amount of sensibility to Sherlock’s reasonable insanity.

Ron7

4. Ron Weasley. Sure, he’s not exactly the bravest lad, especially when it comes to spiders, but he sticks to Harry’s side through everything.

RueOk

3. Rue. She was the sweetest little thing that took care of Katniss when she was hallucinating and covered in tracker jacker stings and whatnot. I mean, normal Katniss is pretty scary, I don’t think I would’ve had the guts to approach her when she was going insane.

Primrose_Everdeen_12

2. Primrose Everdeen. Yeah, she was kind of the reason Katniss got into the Hunger Games in the first place, but she was always there to help Katniss in any way she could.

tumblr_mka9f0le5b1r3g6pqo1_1280

1. Grover Underwood. Though this guy isn’t fearless, he faces his fears anyway to help his friends. Anytime Percy needed him, he was there. Now there’s a true sidekick!

Top Ten Fictional Females

We have befriended loads of fictional females, but really, what are the very best ones?

10. Katniss Everdeen. She’s not the most agreeable character, but she’ll do anything for those she loves. She strong at heart and with a bow and arrow, and I’m pretty sure that guarantees her a spot on this list.

9. Hazel Grace Lancaster. She’s really intelligent, though I have to admit her thoughts are pretty depressing. Then again, wouldn’t your’s be if you knew you were dying of cancer?

8. Annabeth Chase. She can be a little bossy at times, but her mind is teeming with knowledge. And not only that, she’s got a really good heart too.

7. Hermione Granger. Her personality is actually surprisingly a lot like Annabeth’s. They’re pretty much tied for me.

6. Bianca DiAngelo. Though she’s an extremely minor character in just one Percy Jackson book, she is amazing. She’s brave, loving, innocent, kind, and just beautiful inside out. It’s a very rare combination.

6. Sally Jackson. She married Smelly Gabe to protect Percy. ‘Nuff said.

5. Elizabeth Bennet. First off, she’s hilarious. Second off, she’s smart. Sure, she had a little prejudice against Darcy, but we all have our faults.

4. Tris Prior. Her selflessness, bravery, and determination are all rare traits. And she even has a good heart too!

3. Hestia. She is the best Greek goddess ever! She is so humble and kind, there is no way you can help but admire her.

2. Beth March. My heart reaches out to her so much. She makes the very best of any situation, and spreads that cheer around. Her body is weak and fragile, but her soul is so full of love and kindness. She’s even talented in music! How could one not love her?

1. Anne Shirley. She makes mistakes, but she always learns from them! She is incredibly cheerful and imaginative and will never stop dreaming! She has a noble and kind heart, and she’s definitely a people person! There is so much to love about her!
